My Most Powerful Email Ever

Here’s a story as told to me by a fellow online marketer:

There was a time, back in the 90’s, when some of us were doing something called “fax blasting.”

This was similar to email marketing, in that we were sending out faxes via a service to people who had expressed interest in our niche.

And frankly, we made very good money using this method.

Obviously it wouldn’t work today, but there was one lesson I learned via fax blasting that I’ve never forgotten.

I was working one of those multi-level programs that were so popular then.

I’d send out a blast of 1,000 faxes, and recruit several people into the program without even talking to them. Yes, it was that easy, if you had the right copy.

I would then continue to keep them updated via fax or email, their choice.

And there was one message I sent out that got more response than all of my other messages combined.

In fact, I was frankly shocked at the response. People referred to that message on personal calls, conference calls, in emails and so forth.

Quite simply, it resonated like nothing else I ever sent.

So what was the message? It was simply me rambling on a bit about my typical working day: When I got up; when, where and how I worked; when I finally got to bed and a couple of amusing but personal anecdotes.

It was something I dashed off without much thought, yet it was the message that everyone wanted to hear.

Why? Because it was personal stuff about me.

I was their upline. And in marketing, people like to buy people, not things. If you think about it, there are probably a dozen or maybe a hundred other people selling the same or nearly the same things you’re selling.

Yet your customers buy from you. Why? Because they like YOU. Maybe they like the way you write, or talk, or the look of you… I don’t know. But I do know there is something about you that they relate to.

So next time you send out an email or write a blogpost, put a little bit of YOU into it, and see what happens.

And make that a pattern, always offering a little insight into the mystery that is you.

While it will never be your main message, it will go a long way to bridging the distance between you, your customers and making sales.

Transform your Life With a Home-Based Business

Whether personally or globally, our economy can have radical shifts. ‘Feast or Famine’. Unfortunately the ‘cost of living’ doesn’t change very often. Many are thinking of or already working from home. For several reasons it is probably best to do this part-time at first.

Working from home has many advantages. Besides being able to have extra money to save or use for something your salary alone may not afford, a close second is probably being your own boss and to do the kind of work you want to do. Most plan on eventually working from home full –time. (make sure you have proven full-time income before you quit your day job!)

A full-time home business provides freedom. You have the freedom to create and maintain your own work schedule and to save money on gas, food and clothes. If you ever calculated it you probably spend a lot of time commuting that you are never paid for if you are working away from home. When you work from home, you are able to keep more of the money you make.

Another advantage of having a home based business is that you can spend more time being around your family and friends. You will not have nearly as much stress all the way around as you would have with a job. Remember your kids are only kids once. Don’t miss all the ‘firsts’.

A home business gives you more opportunity to progress professionally. To run your own business gives you experience in management. Having your own plan gives you a chance to be more creative. You may even be able to use talents you haven’t been able to use before as well as ones you have honed through years in your career.

To make your home business work, you need to put together a well thought-out, written business plan. There are many online websites that can help you think this through. Don’t be in denial about this because you really need to know how much time and money will be required at different stages. There are many ways you can do this as your assets allow. Use the skills you have to do things for free to promote your business.

Home Business – You Have to Do it Your Way

It really shows you are creative and brighter than average if you want to develop a business on your own. Why blow it by being a jackass? Reference is to people with no experience who will ignore training and even minor documentation that might help them to formulate a plan. Oh but no, they are the center of the universe. They will pester support for answers in that they feel they are entitled to know without reading it.

It says ‘free’ and/or it says ‘no experience’ necessary. Did it ever occur to you that you have to start somewhere? These two qualifications do in fact require your participation even if just so far as to give you a place to start from. Did I mention that you contact support usually after you mess everything up by doing it without having any reference? That’s ok support lives for you. Forget their other 100 people that they need to help. They will be glad to do everything 2 or 3 times just to cater to you.

If you are paying for service that is a different ballgame. They owe you, but still only to a reasonable degree. Why do you not recognize harassment when several times a day you are running to them with questions that are either not relevant to what you should be doing at this point or worse something that has already messed everything up and now needs to be recovered – on their time. Oh! But you are entitled more so than anyone else. (Where did you get this silly idea?).

Unfortunately the other side of the entitlement allows that you will tell people how to do their job. If they try to tell you where you should get your direction (as a kindness) you will badger them and infer threats. You as support are expected to know everything and do everything. If you are avoiding telling the person they are a pest who you feel is harassing you, or to say ‘it is not my job’, they will likely consider you hostile and condescending. Which is best, tell the truth or go with ‘the customer is always right’. (not)

The point is allow the people who want to guide you to the point where you can start to use your own ideas. Don’t be ignorant and start right in destroying everything before you access what has been provided. This especially refers to changing technical settings that you have no idea how to understand or what will happen other than somebody else will need to fix it for you.

How to Start a Home Business

If you are expecting to start a home business, and for it to be successful, you really need to get serious. You should see it as if it was a paying job, even though it may not be yet. Schedule your working time to just like you would have hours where you are expected to perform for a job. Keep in mind that you don’t have to stress about time and deadlines quite as much when it is your home business and not your job.

If your business was a job, would you have the attitude that whenever you get a chance you will do whatever it is? Would you do what you need to do only if you can squeeze it in to your social calendar? No way, because you wouldn’t keep the job long enough to be worried. It is the same concept with your business – take it seriously. It has to be on top of your list of priorities. Top of the charts, you need to make your home work schedule part of your business plan. Determine how much time you can commit to spend per day or per week to work on your business.

You may have a day job, a family and pets, etc., that demand your attention and are first priorities, if you want to add a home business to your life you need to create some structured time for it. Whether it is 2 hours or 8 hours you need to use the time wisely, and be consistent. Looking at your day as 24-hours you can be flexible and can do some hours in the AM and some in the PM or whatever fits your lifestyle. It can always be flexible, changing as need be when there are things that come up, or just because you feel like it.

Realizing that one of the most important (free and effective) ways to promote your online business is to use your blog, try to spend at least 30 minutes to publish at least a few paragraphs. Original content is always best, but if you don’t have anything unique, then maybe post an article by someone else, and of course including their links, etc. to give them full credit. (this is another important legal issue).

Also typical to an online marketing business would be to manage your list of subscribers in your autoresponder, (15 minutes); and to do some advertising using whatever strategies you have chosen to use presently – for instance solo ads, traffic exchanges, and list builders (30 minutes).

It won’t be too hard to forget to check your affiliate programs for commissions by logging in to each one and looking for your reports (15 minutes); Check in to your social networks, etc., to see if you have any messages (business-related) to respond to. This is no time to socialize unless it is business related. This is work time. You can go back on your own time to chat it up. Just remember not to get ‘lost’ on any site that you are on.

Home-Based Business Start-Up – Maintaining a Mindset for Success

When we are making a final determination as to whether we could set up a successful home business we should really ask ourselves the following.

If we were our own boss, would we really do the work we need to do? Will we keep working diligently even though at first (and maybe for quite some time) we will not be paid? Will we be able to keep investing our time and effort and maybe a few dollars into our business for an extended period without seeing any return on investment? Will we be able to keep from feeling discouraged through this period?

You will need to be down in the trenches until you get everything set up, including some trial and error. The ‘magic sauce’ doesn’t sound very glamorous from this vantage point, does it? This is why you have to maintain a positive mindset. The work and sacrifice are exactly what makes the difference between make it or break it and not just at start-up but going forward as well.

So there is no point in wasting your time and other resources to start something you won’t be able to finish. That is why it is such a good idea for you to explore the possibilities first. Don’t forget that there are some business models that you may like more than others. So try a few on for size before you decide.

Also think about the goals you want to achieve if you do go into creating a home business. Do you just want to supplement your income with some extra cash? Do you actually badly need to bring in more income as what your job provides is not sufficient for a nice lifestyle?

Did you lose your job and now need to find a way to support yourself? (In this case it is probably advisable to get at least another part-time job first ) and work on your business start-up part-time (unless you have savings, severance pay, and/or unemployment insurance to tide you over). You have to have living expenses while you are developing your business.

Contrary to popular wishful thinking, starting a business is not going to generate income immediately. It needs to be developed over time with lots of effort. Just think logically – if we could send out 10 emails and then sit back and wait for the cash to roll in, why wouldn’t we all do it? The answer is because nothing like that exists (legally). It is more like 100’s of emails on a consistent basis over time that might produce some cash.

So do you think you can do it? I bet you can if you can maintain a mindset that is determined and motivated.

Very Few Programs Work Unless We Work Them

No program does magic tricks or create wealth for people. The people have to seriously work at making anything happen. Words used like ‘easy’, ‘free’ or ‘fast’ can be misleading, especially if you are hoping to get something for nothing. (wealth without work). We must be logical about these words because they are subjective – What you think is easy I may think is hard – or what you call fast I may think is slow.

With that said, affiliate marketing programs do much to help you get started. They usually always provide several different resources toward that end. Nobody, however has a responsibility to make it profit except YOU! Depending on your level of commitment and focus, the program will eventually work over time. If you are willing to invest your time in learning, implementing your promotions, and giving them time to generate results, the program will probably work for you.

Nobody can guarantee your success. Success is about what you do with everything over time to develop your business! Of course there are still things we can’t control that may affect the speed at which we see results. Just keep your effort coming no matter what it looks like. When you don’t see anything it is time to ramp it up and do more, not get discouraged and stop working.

You can pay for services to help you with the work in building an affiliate marketing business from home online if you have a little money. With no money, that’s ok but you need to do your own marketing and advertising. Not difficult to find instructions and even models that you can use. In general you will find that using the Internet is 10 times cheaper, easier and faster than anything you can do offline – for example you don’t need supplies like paper, ink, postage, or equipment like printers to send advertising messages to your prospects.

You need a mechanism to capture leads online to send your messages to or you can pay for list building services. A combination of both usually works best as capturing leads can take a long time, although they are typically more interested than those on a purchased list of no quality. You don’t want to just “buy leads” – you want to ‘build a list’ of real people. You also may need an autoresponder to manage the list and send the messages automatically.

Don’t manufacture excuses to fail – It is really simple – If you want to earn a profit, you need to do the work and spend the time. You have to be very engaged in your business at all times; albeit whatever time you choose and keep in mind the more time the better result sooner.

If you slack off or sit back and wait, you may wait a long time for nothing. You get what you give. Nothing equals nothing. You are responsible for either your own success or your own failure. Just like real life!

Many Fail To Make Money Online – The Real Reason

There’s many stories of professionals who forsake their day jobs in order to start their own businesses. Sadly though, there are also many people who are unable to make their dreams a reality. Even though they may try hard, their efforts do not result in sufficient income even to cover their living expenses.

To avoid complete financial ruination, these folks must accept the fact that they have no choice at the moment but to put their dreams aside and find another job to support themselves. Don’t always assume that this is due to the fact that available opportunities are not profitable enough for any sustained success. This scenario is not the real reason people fail to make money online.

This problem usually starts with a failure to have a business plan. Online entrepreneurs know that there are many ways to promote product ideas on the Web. However, they do not have a clear picture of what products have a market and who that market is that they need to reach. Instead of going out on a limb, a solid, stable foundation should be created from these criteria before you begin.

An appropriate work schedule is also key. Although if you are self-employed you can work whatever hours you prefer, you still need to work consistently and more or less frequently. Home business workers are so relieved to be away from the rut of their day jobs, that they try to bypass creating any structured plans for themselves.

If you are investing in products or ideas that do not create adequate excitement, that is a common mistake as well. When a targeted market does not respond to what a company has to offer, whatever relevance these products had originally, just keep disintegrating.

Nearly all start-up costs will be considered as a loss initially. Money is going out of your pocket for development but so far nothing is coming back to you. This is one big reason to avoid becoming involved with a company that requires you to purchase inventory either for potential customers or yourself. This is how people wind up in debt after trying unsuccessfully to start a home business.

Trying to understanding the real reasons many people fail to generate income online will help you to be more successful in your own efforts. Creating a feasible business plan, adopting a dedicated work schedule and choosing the right products, services and information will make a big difference. If you target an active and interested market it is possible for people to accomplish their goals.

Internet Marketing – Realizing Your Dream

When you were a kid did you dream about what you want to be when you grow up? You probably changed your mind several times by the time you grew up! If you had a solid idea of what you wanted to do by this time, you may have planned to attend college to create a reality from your dream. You researched which colleges had the best options, the best cost, decent housing costs for living either on campus or in an apartment, etc. You may have done this routine with a few different schools before you determined if one was just right for you or as close to it as possible.

The point is people have to create a plan that includes their ability to pay the costs, do the work, etc. If you want your dream(s) to become your reality, you have to create a plan and research it as you develop it into a step-by-step process that will get you where you want to go. You also need the ability to change direction when necessary. Your plans need to be both focused and flexible.

After graduation it will be the same type of planning where you will need to find the companies that are hiring in your field. Some of the things you will need to know to decide if it could be right for you are for instance, where is the company located? Will the company pay you close to what you are expecting? *(they say don’t ask this until you have been through a few interviews with that company). Will you or they be willing to compromise if not? Who do you need to see to arrange an interview? Since plans are usually dependent on different factors, some of which are beyond your control, you may at least consider what other options you may have. It is best to plan for contingencies.

If you dream of creating an Internet marketing (IM) business, then all of the above still applies. However, IM seems to attract its share of ‘mavericks’. Entrepreneurs do not necessarily have college degrees, so don’t give up if you can’t hack college. IM Entrepreneurs just need initiative and motivation and be willing to learn. If necessary there are other (much cheaper) options to learning online part-time so that you can still support yourself and/or build your business while you are learning. Check out ‘Community Colleges’. These schools actually are accredited (you can earn a valid degree).

You can start out to see if you like the industry just by joining an affiliate marketing program online for a few dollars. It wouldn’t be such a far stretch to assume that with a little hands-on experience in the field, you could start your own membership program.

Are You One Who Lives to Work or Who Works to Live?

Some people love to work and their job is a priority. These folks enjoy working and look forward to it. Others not so much and just show up for the paycheck and do as little as they can get away with. Hard to tell if they have something they really do like to do,like a hobby, such as photography or painting – maybe not even that.

It is pretty common to hear the expression ‘starving artists’. That’s because for some reason they usually spend several years of creating art that doesn’t sell and doesn’t often generate enough money to live on. Many times artists have no sense of business so they may mismanage most financial issues. Sad, but maybe something about the struggle may contribute to developing their talent.

If we live to work or work to live , the difference may depend t on whether you have a job where you are doing something you like to do if not just tolerate it well. Sometimes it is necessary to do anything we can to support ourselves when in dire straits. This may have to be okay for a limited time, but if it becomes a permanent career it can become a real mental and emotional drain.

Other than sleeping, our work consumes a large portion of our daily life. We should really try to be happy with what we are doing – or are forced to be doing. It really requires some strength to remain positive in a negative situation. However, if we are in a position where we are not really happy, we need to try to change it.

In today’s financial environment, we can’t just throw away a job, because the days are gone where we knew we could always find something better. We are fortunate if we have a way to support ourselves on any decent level. If we really want more, we have to believe that we can do it and then we have to take action to achieve our goals.

If we love to work it will be a lot easier if we have to develop a business to supplement our income, or to start mapping out a planning an escape from our hamster wheel (rut) to save our sanity among other things. If you are willing to try working at home at least part-time to begin to build a business you can get creative and build something you like doing.
